FRANNY. My heart! This book was so relatable and sad; Quinn really dove into grief, infertility, loss, and the push and pull of finding love a second time- but how that love is held alongside the man who loved her first. Much spicier than any of the others.
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Hyacinth’s book is perhaps my favorite of the series next to Francesca’s. It’s sweet, fun, she is allowed to be bold and sexy and generally feels like she was given more agency. Gareth is a very intriguing and altogether relatable love interest and their romance was delightful.

Darker and spicier themes for Quinn. I think this is the start of where her series starts to shine, but this is not my favorite; I wanted better for Eloise and therapy for Phillip.
Very sweet! I really enjoyed Polin’s friends to lovers story, and especially loved getting to know Penn’s alter-ego and her character as a witty, brilliant, and independent woman.
I’m a sucker for a Cinderella retelling and I loved Sophie. As the other Bridgerton boys before him, Benedict is reformed rake and has his moments where he is an absolute ass, but overall I really enjoyed this book.
Daphne quite without remorse takes advantage of and rapes the Duke. The author tries to redeem this with something like later feelings of regret or ignorance, but the choice was made and it soured everything for me.
I AM OBSESSED. I read this in a day and a half and I cannot believe I didn’t read this soon— but am also mad it’s still a series in progress. Brutal, sexy, adventurous, and set in a world that already feels rich. I cannot wait to read Iron Flame.
Still obsessed! Very fun, much darker than the first book though this one does have a few more plot holes that I would really love to see addressed— we’re just at a school where professors can run amuck and straight up torture kids to death that they don’t like? This is a military, where are your checks and balances, dudes?! Overall, still loved it, and will absolutely read again.
This book was a little different for my taste but it’s one of my partner’s favorite series so I wanted to give it a try. Mainly it was a lot more political than I would normally go for but the world building and the magic system is very cool! The women are written tragically, by which I mean so badly it hurts— the only exception being Mama K. All other women are boy obsessed and only there to die, be maimed, or serve as a thing for the hero to rescue which is honestly just boring and insulting.
I tried to read this about a year ago but I had to put it down and take a long break due to the descriptive and honestly horrifying nature of the sexual violence in the first 40-50 pages. Once I got beyond that point though it wasn’t really a recurring theme so I was able to read it without feeling triggered.
Graphic: Body horror, Child abuse, Death, Gore, Physical abuse, Rape, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Blood, Murder, Injury/Injury detail, and Classism
Moderate: Emotional abuse
Minor: Addiction, Child death, and Abandonment
After the first 50 pages or so, when Rat is killed the talk of sexual violence basically goes away almost entirely.
