The only thing I can't say about this book is it wasn't good, the characters were stupid and boring, and somethings happened that didn't like......argggg see it's horrible!!!

How does someone write so beautifully and simply at the same time? π€
π€ I don't know how to describe this kind of writing, I've never seen it in my life. It's so well-described, with a kind of flourish in the words, yet very simple to understand but complex that the same time. AArrrggg π€

I don't usually like slow burns.
Nah, not for me... so why do I like this one? π€
From what I can gather from my all over the place brain, it's a slow burn but at the same time it isn't?!?! I think is because this series is set up like a TV show, and that kinda changes things.
Now, the theme of this book, or the case that (π€ Khalaji+Yoon) Khalajoon are investigating.
It made me cry. It's very well put...it's difficult writting this kinda themes in a way that it's gruesome but also treated delicately, it's very well crafted.
It's so difficult to describe this book, this author's writing for me...
Not only do you have the nightmare murder mystery and everything that comes with that, but you also have a perspective, a glimpse of what the case is doing to the MCs, not just in terms of being queer and how the world sees you, but also mentally speaking of how complicated cases are, how disturbing, and how much energy you waste on them when most of them are dead ends because you don't have any clues... everything all piled together makes you, demands of you to take some time to process it all or break...
It's just amazing, I hope I made the book justice!
Totally recommend this mesmerizing book.

Malcolm clenched his jaw, stared up at the iron cross-beams overhead, sent up a prayer up to anything that would listen, then muttered, βThat means get out, Yoon.β
Yoon tilted his head to the other side. Then, βI would not have supposed you were shy,β he said, before walking out and closing the door behind him.
Malcolm stared after him, then closed his eyes and thunked his forehead against the wardrobe door, reminding himself to just breathe.'

Cons: In other occasions, I would've said the omnivore food was a con for me, but Khalaji asked, in a non-judgmental way, if Yoon was vegetarian or vegan, and if he wanted to look for another place to eat... so now that I know that the characters and the author will not make fun and respect my lifestyle, I will respect them back. Now, it doesnβt bother me what they choose to eat, I just ignore it.

While romantic developments are present from the beginning of this series, don't expect a full-blown romance in the first book.
It's more about the build-up chemistry, anticipation, and tension that lead to the eventual romance, with all the twists and turns that keep you hooked episode after episode.
If "The Closer" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" had a baby, it would be this book. With both MCs being non-caucasian (Persian/Korean) and queer, with side characters across gender and sexuality spectrums.

Decide to to do the latest bc I planing on reading the whole series and I want to remember in the future I didn't like this book.
This is a list of what I didn't liked about this book:
1.The Audiobook - It was a mistake to listen to the audiobook.
I started this book after reading the first 2 books of the spinof (Warts and ) of this series (Creatures CafΓ©).
The first book of the spinof has Inferna the future daughter of this book MCs so I started reading this series. (oops spoiler?? this is a HEA so I don't think this is fully a spoiler, but on that note if this book had included the mpreg content it would've gain more points in my opinion!)
I thought I was lucky that Libby had the audiobooks so I decided to start listening.... bad idea, very bad idea...the narrator is not completely bad, it's okay reading Peter's POV bc there wasn't any growling, yelling or fury while talking, it was actually very normal but Dante's POV?! It made skip forward just not to here that irritated furious voiced the narrator did.
2. The Story: It was soo boring and predictable with so much DRAMA
!! I don't equate fiction stories to real life. It's a matter of personal taste and what you are willing or want to tolerate in the books you read. We all have different opinions and preferences when it comes to the kind of books we enjoy, so it's important to respect and remember that it's just a book!!

Well... I was expecting much more!
I love Bailey Nicole's <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/5298596096">Worthless Boys</a> Series. Their books are so profound and mind-blowingly good..... until this one.
This happens sometimes, you can't love them all, right?
Maybe the problem is me!? Well, my Denial Era will end eventually!
Here is the pros and cons list:
What really threw me was the sudden highs and lows of the characters' opinions. One second they weren't going to be together, they couldn't, the next they were going to throw everything out of the window and be together, and then the next second they started to doubt everything...
This happens with almost everything, every conflict or decision that <b>ALL</b> the characters make.
Don't get me started on Hendrix's mother, π she's horrible to Hendrix, doesn't change at all throughout the book, and in the end, it happens again, one second she doesn't agree with their relationship, the other is mad, then ashamed, then crying, and then finally magically accepting but still doesn't comprehend the MCs' relationship π.
The book wasn't bad, just had some major flaws for me.
The only reason that made me keep reading was Hendrix and the sex was good π€.
Apart from that, it was me skipping (mainly in the end) and in denial that the book would eventually get better.
So 3 stars? No, because then they had to go and write about fishing and preparing the carcasses of fish to eat.... that was the definite push to 2 Stars.
Not 1 star, mainly because I liked Hendrix and Grant's storyline and chemistry.
And I thought it would get better. Benefit of the doubt.... I guess I was wrong. Well better luck for next time. π€
