Good psychological read. Chloe wakes up tied up in a "tomb" with no idea how she got there. Once she escapes she realises she has lost 6 weeks of her memory and no one will believe she was actually kidnapped and tied up. Eventually she starts to piece together the missing weeks but will she persuade people it did actually happen or was it an hallucination as they all believe?.... I did enjoy this book, but didn't rate it 5/5 as it didn't have a huge twist at the end that I was expecting.

This is the second book I have read by this author and won't be the last. I found it a very easy to read story that I couldn't put down. It's a mix between The Davinci Code and the movie National Treasure where the main character is travelling around France chasing clues to find the next bone remains and the next murderer. It has left me wanting to read the remaining books in the Enzo Macleod series! I received this book free from Goodreads first reads, and would happily have bought it had I not.

I received this book from Goodreads First Reads. This has got to be simply the best horror story I have read in a very long time. I remember watching the film many years ago so was looking forward to reading the book and boy did it not disappoint!! I swear I'm going to be dreaming about a lion shaped hedge coming alive and chasing me! Jack, Wendy and Danny are looking after the Overlook hotel during winter closure...but it has a lot of history and Danny has "The Shining" and sees things from the past...murders etched into the building etc. And slowly the building starts to take over Jack too......

I received this book through Goodreads First Reads. It is exquisitely written, beautifully descriptive and quite dreamy in the images it provokes. I admit it's not my usual style of book and took me a couple of chapters to get into the style of writing. But all in all worth reading. I give it a generous 4 out of 5 due to its beautifully descriptive finer details that many books lack.
