His thoughts were all cerulean.

I had heard this often compared to Harry Potter and I find that to be a huge disservice. Namely given the climate of all things Harry Potter lately, but more importantly, this is a different genre of fantasy I discovered I love so much more. It is the cozy hug of fantasy reading we all need, especially during the winter months. I found myself 'running' to Twitter to share little tidbits of quotes from the book. One chapter after another I felt a tremendous amount of comfort in these little outcasts learning to love and live in the hard world that is trying to rob them of their inner heroes. I can't wait to read more by T.J. Klune and I'm eagerly looking for more reads like it! If you want some backlist picks from my growing-up years, highly recommend any of Eva Ibbotson's books, specifically her fantasy middle grade. Lowkey, fantasy, cozy hugs just like 'The House in the Cerulean Sea'. This book is so much hope for queer representation **cheers**!
