I didn’t really get attached to the characters. It took me awhile to catch on to the theme of the cycle of fathers and sons. Violence, distance. I mean, just shitty fathers.

Read this for a woman's studies course. As a piece of literary art, it's unique. As for a piece of work to be analyzed, it's not so great. There's a lot of metaphors. And there could be one metaphor used multiple times but mean different things. It's confusing. However, if you read it for entertainment -- it sure is a wild ride. I didn't have a hard time reading it. I just had a hard time finding a deeper purpose, which to be fair, no one actually told me it would have a deeper purpose.

I wanted to love it. It moved the overall series along, which is what I think SJM meant to do. But Ithan and Tharion making decisions using their one shared brain cell was exhausting. GIVE ME MORE MAMA EMBER AND LYDIA!! Honestly, I'm kind of over Bryce. Still read it, enjoyed it enough. I'm hoping the next book will be better.

The month before this, I binged the ENTIRE Throne of Glass series. I wanted to jump back into a fantasy book, and I kept seeing this book come up on my TikTok FYP. So I gave it a try, and that's how I found a new obsession.

Immediately started this after finishing Fourth Wing. Extremely pissed about the ending.
