I love anything mythology and this book had so much potential in terms of the story, but I didn’t feel super connected to the characters. I also didn’t love that there was no chapters or clean breaks in the story - it all kind of felt like a run on sentence, but like, the entire book? Overall a decent read but could have been a lot better!
The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow

Some of the most beautiful writing I’ve read in a long time. I felt like this book was a slow burn where it took me awhile to really get into it, and then all of a sudden something just clicked and I could not put it down!!! Such amazing storytelling and the imagery was fantastic.

This book did NOT do it for me! The concept was intriguing but the writing itself was not great. I didn’t feel connected to the characters at all, and felt like she made the children (who are major characters) so one dimensional. I also did not love the constant switching between viewpoints and years, as it made things difficult to track. Overall really disappointed with this read.

I absolutely LOVED the writing style of this book - fun, witty, easy to read. I couldn’t get enough. I do wish the synopsis didn’t give away a major plot twist, as it would have been fun to figure it out along the way. But overall, a great summer beach read with enough whimsy and loveable characters that it’s easy to get swept away!

YES. Could not put this down (as with the rest of the series but ESPECIALLY this one). Loving the multiple perspectives SJM offers and the TWISTS - ooooh just so good. How she manages to get me fully invested in SO many characters and their development, I’ll never know, but I never want it to end.
