This was just as crazy as I expected. Humanity is a wild thing. No one in this book is good and what a realistic thing!

I am a littlleeee disappointed. I liked some parts of this book a lot, especially the narrators relationship with her mother.
Other parts of this book left me feeling a little empty and confused? I still don't know really what I took away from this read.

Sooooo fun. It's a little over the top with some of the magic elements, especially with all the different creatures. This book could have been shaved down for sure, and I'm scared of the next two equally huge books to follow.

Very interesting. I thought this dynamic was super compelling and the look into anthropology was cool. I flew through this book and really enjoyed it. Even shed a few tears there at the end.

This dynamic was genuinely funny, as the title suggests. I love the switch-a-roo plot. I had a lot of fun, and I loved Miles.

This book really gets you thinking. In two main ways (IMO).
1. Obviously the terror that is decision-making and the trouble of knowing what's 'right' for you. The confusion of trying to understand THAT
2. Ancient Egypt and the history of humanity. People weren't so different. The book of two ways represents modern humanity just as well.
I also am OBSESSED with how well Picoult researches her books. She is always so knowledgeable and represents topics in such a detailed yet understandable way. Love her.

I liked this! I loved the analysis of academia/STEM and the politics within that. It had so much more to say than just two people falling in love. Now, there was still some... quirky... moments. Also there were some parts that were so mortifying for the FMC that I had to put the book down for a sec.
Still, I liked that the general plot was more than romance. Nice!

A fairy-tale mashup fever dream. Absolutely insane in the most exciting way. The writing was extremely flowery and over-the-top, which was kind of annoying at first, but as the book progressively gets more intense and urgent and wild, it actually works really well and enhanced the freaky vibe. This book honestly scared me.

A romance very similar to the ones we read today, considering the dynamics and tropes in this book (and those like it), just in a historical context. It adds extra interest for me, just because romance is so similar yet so different from what it was back then. It also adds extra vibes because of the balls and pretty ballgowns and estates.
