The Time Machine by H.G. Wells

Read this for science fiction class. I was high every day. I was a miserable 16 year old. I hated myself and everyone and I did not appreciate that class at all. A class we should have never had in my school. It was SO niche. But I remember reading most of this and pretending to read the whole thing. I don’t know if I ever actually did.
I’d like to apologize to that teacher for not being a good person to anyone around me and for not appreciating what a mixed Christian woman with very non-conforming gender roles who had a mentally handicapped child and put Christmas decorations up in October was doing for the freaks of my base town. She gave us a place to feel safe and I ignored it all or took advantage of it.
I think I’ll reread all of the books we read in that class one day. We also watched Meet Joe Brown and man… what a weird movie.
All of that to say I don’t remember this book at all

The Carnivorous Carnival by Lemony Snicket

This is the best book of the series. Period. I don’t care what anyone else has to say. Every child dreams of running away to the carnival and this gave me particular issues as I was conceived at a carnival and it made me feel some type of way. I have no notes for this book. None at all. Every book should be this book.

I remember liking this okay. I don’t remember reading the second one. I didn’t ever have any friends so reading about friend groups always made me sad. I was more of a solo protagonist or family dynamic kind of reader. I also don’t remember how the soccer romance was handled in the book but I fully stopped the movie over it due to my own trauma. I know these topics can be handled properly and I hope it was but I will probably not be rereading this even though I very very very much remember reading about Lena in Greece. Omg. That was my dream growing up. Going to Europe and literally falling in love with someone I shouldn’t? YES PLEASE. And then the fat out of place stepkid thrown into a perfect family for the summer… that one really really really hit home. I don’t remember the other two very much but honestly I think if I just skip all of the soccer camp stuff I could really enjoy this book.
Please let me know if the man in the book handles her properly bc it was so uncomfortable in the movie.

DNF at meeting Eric. Just… no. She is so delusional and horny and it’s just so far out of the realm of possibility. I always thought the show was over sexualizing but nope. They toned it down which for a titty and ass show really is saying something. I have so many of these books that I will probably not read now lol.

I lied and said I had read this book in the fourth grade to be able to go on a field trip to watch this movie. Then I made my mom but this book so I could read it. It’s so good. I recently listened to the audiobook. Everyone should read this book. And everyone should have a friend like India Opal.

THIS BOOK SLAPS!
You want to explore MORE of the world?! You want to explore the past? Do you want to not ever trust your own eyeballs anymore? Do you want to know about the sphinx that everyone always talks about? Hell yeah you do.
This one is truly so much fun but you have to read anything dumbledore says calmly as rage filled as you can.
Yet again Dumbledore is my least favorite in this book but you get the Quidditch World Cup, so much Weasley, port keys, the other schools, the triwizard tournament, dragons, mazes, deaths, exploration of slavery, racism and classism. This one is more about them being a little older, a little more into the romance side of things. This movie lacks but the book is honestly fantastic.

Did I understand all of this? No. Did I understand most of the first two books? No. Do I care? Nope. Just gay vibes and killer lines. Like this one I want to leave on every single comment waiting for the next book. “Not in this life or any other.”

I can’t even with this series. Yet another complete divulgence from the last book. How she has managed this consistently with her first series and Gideon being her debut is insane. I will wait as long as it takes for Alecto and if for some reason it never comes I will still support this series with my entire soul. This series is so worth every heartache and stupid meme pushed into every serious moment. I am actually in love with everyone in this book. There is a cliffhanger but that has to be expected by now.
Please read this series if you are gay, have immense childhood trauma, like swords, bones, babes, magic, can tolerate not knowing what the actual fuck is going on for more than half of the story, and memes… so many memes. But good ones. Ones that fit somehow.
Just read this please.

This is actually perfect. I can’t describe it. I shouldn’t. There’s no reason to. If you’re interested in this book it’s because you’ve read the context. And this is a quick lil read that will scratch that itch you have. You owe it to yourself. Hang out with Sex Pal for a few. He always has marvelous insights.
