Sort of cringey, not a fantastically written book but a fun read nevertheless.

The more I think about this book the more I dislike it. I’m surprised this series is as popular as it is considering nothing interesting happened for the first half of the book.

Also I wasn’t a huge fan of the characters if I’m being honest. Feyre annoyed me quite a bit as I feel like she made a lot of stupid decisions. I know it’s for advancement of the plot but she pissed me off nevertheless.

Would also like to add that the author used the terms “metallic tang” and “bowels turned watery” far too often.

I don’t think I’ve ever been more captivated by a book in my life. This mystery had me HOOKED, and not only was the plot amazing, but so were the characters. Avery, Jared, Noah, and Ling were all super likeable characters and made the book much more enjoyable.
My only complaint was that the book was a bit confusing at points and I did have to google some questions I was still left with at the very end.

I read this book before travelling to South Africa for field school. It was really helpful in learning about the lived experience of South Africans during apartheid and set me up with knowledge to reflect on while I learned and experienced things on my trip. Trevor Noah’s writing combines elements of humour and emotion in a way that blend seamlessly and make this biography such an enjoyable read.
