Wow! This is book that after reading I feel like I HAVE to discuss. I haven’t felt this way about a book probably since reading The Need. What did I just read?!
A Harpy is someone who punishes men for the things they do. In The Harpy, Lucy finds out her husband has been unfaithful and they agree she can hurt him three times in return.
Obviously, this isn’t the perfect solution. What follows is an examination of marriage and motherhood in an incredibly unique way. It explores how Lucy does (or does not) maintain her identify after marriage and children.
This isn’t firmly rooted in reality, it’s sort of a fairy tale, but incredibly dark, and like I said before- reminded me somewhat of The Need. I finished this awhile ago and am still stewing on it- to me, that’s a sign of a good book!
