The tension in this book had me eating it up. The miscommunication trope is getting old, but it somehow still felt believable. I didn’t think the ending was as good as the first, but I appreciated the character arcs more. Love Io. Love the other girls’ growing relationships. Obviously obsessed with Lia and Xander. Waiting for the third book might kill me.

I wanted to like it more than I did. Maybe I would’ve if I’d read the first one more recently, but unfortunately I dragged myself through it and didn’t feel very invested.

I liked it. But I’m incredibly disappointed that I guessed literally every plot twist, and the world did not seem too original. I also got stuck in the middle and was a little unmotivated to read it. Also why all the sex? It got excessive. Especially because

I didn’t trust Killian very early on, and his whole dominating sexual personality gave me major red flags early.

I’ll definitely read the sequel, though, so it was clearly good enough.

I mean who does love a “he falls first”? The FMC did dumb things that made me angry, but I liked the cheesiness of the tropes.

I keep waiting for these books to get better, and they’re just not. I don’t get the Slade hype, and I guess I’m gonna have to get over that. I’m quitting the series for now.
