The 2 stars are for Ash. Mara was insufferable which is a shame because she’s the main character and narrator. She also literally stalked someone across Europe and comes back like “am I creepy?” Like yes. She calls everything “fate” but she’s really just picking and choosing her future. I also couldn’t understand why she was so mean to her family - and ultimately if Charlie (bff) hadn’t been in the book, it wouldn’t have changed anything.

at first i was like “this is overhyped.” then i thought “oh no this is appropriately hyped.” now that i’ve finished, i realize that, somehow, it was actually under hyped.

it’s like game of thrones meets…. hunger games? 100% my favorite fantasy since GOT and i am SO glad i only have to wait a month for iron flame!!
