No offence but it sucked.
Earl reminded me of my friend and I found that funny, but that's pretty much it. :-/
Just as Greg said on literally every single page of this book. It was not worth reading.

I didn't finish it...I only managed to read up to the middle of their capture their flag competition or whatever.
Looks like this book just wasn't for me. Slow pacing, typical main character, loads of plot holes, female characters who? Not my thing.
The part where they change him from Red to Gold was pretty cool but the rest,,,,,well.

I took so long to read this, even though it was only ~200 pages long...
The book kind of drags on, there's one setting, only so many characters (and they die as soon as they get mentioned so there's not much development outside of Garratty's group). And the only plot point is They Walk (as you'd expect from a book called The Long Walk)

Even though it was slow, I did think it had some interesting messages regarding our views on death/life, and the purpose of going forward.

Did not enjoy the casual misogyny. Whenever there's a girl in any scene it goes along the lines of: 'her breasts...so plump...'

The ending was something. It just cut off. I was trying to find the 'real ending', cause that can't be it right? < insert zuko gif with the scrolls >
At first the ending seems unsatisfying, but then you start to realise its implications, and it becomes a really satisfying and fitting end for this book.

I mean, it was entertaining, but I had high hopes for this book and it really let me down.
I didn't grow up in the 80s, I'm not even a gamer? Even if I was, I don't think I would've enjoyed this book any more. I just wanted to read a cool book that has a video-games-become-reality feel with a few fun references. This felt more like a trivia book with mild plot thrown in.

I'd say my favourite part was the interaction with the Sixers, when they found Wade outside of the Oasis and made him realise that what he was doing wasn't just a game. I thought the book would change after that, but it continued to read like 'just a game'.

The ending was disasterously unsatisfying, and it's a shame that such a good concept went to waste due to a lack of plot, weak writing and the authors desire to cram references into every single line.

Very enjoyable book! I liked the characters and the development, very sweet. The plot was a bit generic, but still interesting to follow.
Finished it in one night, it was a very easy read. Good for when you want an emotional journey but dont have much time.

Fantastic! I loved the atmosphere and how the descriptions felt (if that makes sense?)

However, I was tragically underwhelmed by the ending. There were quite a few loose ends that I wasn't satisfied with. Maybe (probably) my expectations were set way too high.

I enjoyed it nonetheless, it was a great book.

This one was a fun read. It wasn't super amazing or life changing, but I had a good time.

I really liked it. yeah.
Good female characters, good storyline, few plotholes, even made me slightly emotional.
The love triangle (or whatever that was) wasn't my jam and I think we could've gone without, but w/e this is YA so I don't mind.

The concept is awfully similar to Red Rising, but I found I enjoyed Red Queen a bit more. Better pacing, maybe?
