I need everyone to go into this book BLIND! I didn’t read the synopsis or anything before picking this up and I’m happy I did.

I always have a hard time reflecting on works that were translated. When I’m done reading I always feel like parts of the story is missing, and I kinda feel like that with this one. With that said, the stories overall with the different cats playing their parts in bettering their owners were very interesting!

I’m very surprised at how much I liked this book!
I initially through that this was going to be on the more cheesy side of holiday romance, but there were real stakes that both characters faced. And it was executed very well!! The romance and the serious plot point were very balanced. I saw there’s going to be a book two with new characters and I’ll definitely be reading it!

Did not finish book. Stopped at 32%.

The author isn’t explaining why characters are the way they are, or why things start off the way they do. The beginning of this was rough, but I decided to push forward because of natural curiosity. Now I’ve reached a point where I don’t really care to piece any of this together or understand the “twist” 😭

The Deep Dark is officially my favorite graphic novel that I've read this year! Mags’s struggle between isolation and connection, her deep fear of exposing the darkness within her, and her yearning for someone to understand her, even when she doesn't fully understand or accept herself. The art played a vital role in the storytelling, conveying emotion and tension in ways words absolutely couldn't. Each page set the atmosphere of mystery and magic. The visual representation of her inner and physical representation of "darkness", and the way it affects her relationships, was beautifully rendered. At the very end when she accepts wholly excepts herself, we get pages full of color, the same way we do when we are in her memories. I don't think I will be able to recommend this book enough. It's definitely a book I will be revisiting.
