All Fall Down by Ally Carter
⭐️⭐️💫. Interesting characters, and (mostly) well-written. I liked that none of the kids were exactly what they seemed at first glance, and enjoyed the reframe of G and M’s relationship. I also totally didn’t see the final twist coming — who knew the secretary was such a badass? Half star for the last two chapters.
That said, there was a bit too much angst for my fortysomething tastes. I fell asleep towards the end and missed ~45 minutes, and wasn’t invested enough to go back and re-listen. Overall, I enjoyed the book and the hijinks the kids got into, but likely won’t finish the series. 🤷♀️

The Book of Witching by C.J. Cooke

DNF, but ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫.
I don’t normally rate DNFs, but this feels like a black swan. Good plot, well-written and nicely paced, and it pulled me in. The parallels to the current political landscape were a little too close for comfort, and the story was cranking my anxiety about the incoming 🤡 administration to unsustainable levels. 🤷♀️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nice pacing, with an interesting twist at the end. Looking forward to the second book in the series!
The Bond King by Mary Childs

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good gods. Bill Gross might be Aspie, but there’s gotta be more to the story than that! Dementia? Narcissistic personality? 🤦♀️🤷♀️
