I loved how she used birds to move us through the narrative. I loved the at times jarring juxtaposition of the human and the wild. Some of her metaphors are so striking, they stay in the mind long after finishing reading.
I had the added benefit of reading this book aloud to someone I love.

I enjoyed a great many of the thoughts here, but often wanted the author to dive deeper into them, stay with one for longer, explore it to its outer limits. I see how the style echoes poetry, flows like it. There were a good many things contained in this book to think about, and wander about, disagree with or identify with. It was very honest.
Someone I love read me this book aloud, and that made it very special.

A collection to be read all in one go, when you've some time to yourself. Dark, sad, visceral, but ultimately uplifting and truthful, this book is a journey from dark to light.
A very special woman gave this book to me and I thought of her many times throughout. I imagine anyone who reads this will think of important women in their lives as they do.
