It was a fun and cozy novella, I'll give it that! I liked the characters and their dynamic, though I wished some side characters were a bit more devolped outside their one interest, and perhaps some backstory to the town and what happened in the past could add more to the storyline. The magic system perhaps also lacked some understanding about how it worked, most of the time it was either potions (what ingredients are used and why could add already a lot more thought to the magic system) or hand gestures to control elements (how does it feel to use magic could've also added more to this system). But overall I felt the small town vibes were there.

(ARC REVIEW)

A fun and queer anthology of monster stories that are great to discover new authors or for readers who want to dive into fantasy but might feel overwhelmed by big worlds and big casts of characters. The variety of stories and featured characters was done well, though I wished there was maybe some more of an overall feel that connected the stories. Nevertheless, all stories were to my liking and I enjoyed the messages and themes they explored, as well did I get a good feeling about every author featured and their way of telling stories.

We love a found family, everyone trying to find their own path in life, doomed by the narrative, trying to understand yourself and your role in the world you just got thrown into, slow burn love, rich world that has a dark side to it, questionable side characters that have their own agenda, a weird sickness spreading, fairytale esque story with an unique spin on magic and world building.
