First Impressions
throne of the Horde King is the finale of the Horde Kings of Dakkar series. I was really looking forward to this one and enjoyed seeing how each book in the series really built up to this one here. I do recommend reading these books closer together, so that the characters you see in this one will make more sense. I took too long reading this series so I had to look through my other copies of the books in the series to make the character connections make a bit more sense. This is basically a pining heroine, road trip adventure where the hero has a daring mission to take over his father's throne who is basically a corrupt king but there is a bit of forbidden love as well on this.

First Line
The whispers of the priestesses rose and spread.

The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Arik
The Heroine: Kara

Summary
Arik has come to the icy northlands where the ancient temple of the priestesses are and he is on a mission as he needs all the magic stones that can help defeat the fog and will assist Arik in defeating his father who is evil and corrupt and destroying their people slowly because of his greed. Kara has been sheltered and is half human and half Dakkari, but she is very innocent and curious. She convinces Arik to take her with him, as she has a connection to the stone, she is also a seer and can help him get to where he needs to be. While on their journey to gather all the stones and sneak into the city of Dakkar, there is a closeness and intimacy that forms between them....but will Kara be the queen that Arik needs when it comes time?

What I Loved
I really loved their dynamic so much. Arik is a warrior and is a secret prince, his father has tried to kill him multiple of times since he was a child. He is more closed off as a protection, he doesn't know who he can trust. I really loved his secretive nature though, you see how tortured he is at times, that he hasn't had the easiest of lives but also has true kinghood within him. He is a true genuine leader that many will immediately follow because of the complete trust they have in him. Then we have Kara who is innocent and a bit naive but is super curious especially when it comes to sexual attraction. They really are so opposite from each other. I loved their journey to the city together, seeing that attraction really build. I have to say the humor in this book was top notch. It really was what kept me truly in the story. I especially loved their first meeting where he sneaks into her tower like she is rapunzel and I would say this is probably a retelling of that. I loved how alpha he could be at times.....it curled my toes. I have mixed feelings about the ending though. But the majority of the story was very solid.

What I Struggled With
There were two main big things that resulted in the rating that I gave this one and maybe I should have done the audio for this author, I am not sure. I really struggled with the pacing. Now this book I physically read and I think in the future I will stick with audiobooks since I think I did mostly audio's for this series and it just felt like the pacing was slower at times. I am not sure if it was the road trip because I am not always a fan of road trips because of how "slow" they can feel at times. But we also have the ending. Now I am picky about grovels because sometimes authors go way too far on them and she went TOO far in my opinion. Now I know many readers want the hero to beg on his knees.....but I hate it and gives me such a "ick" feeling. It was just way too much. To me this isn't sexy at all and I was disappointed and while I love this heroine in many ways, the way that she just lets him do this because she drags out the forgiveness part....to me shows a toxic aspect to her character. Yeah he made a mistake but he was worried about her safety and I didn't think he needed to do this big grovel because I understand why he did what he did.

Overall View
Thone of the Horde King was a laugh out loud road trip adventure fantasy romance that felt so magical, witty and sensual.

Steam/Spice Explanations

Simmering cup of tea---soft warm touches and light intimacy
Warmin' by the fire- a medium level of sexual tension, a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy, lighter on the details in the sexual moments.
Steamin' up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes.
Blazing fire to the building-The prime focus is the sex scenes, scorching hot, and could burn one. Less focus on the emotional intimacy to the relationship.

 My Review:

The Chosen is one of the more unique books that I have read especially by this author. I loved the way that this couple flirts with each other, the actual wooing and courting that is actually done, the alpha male hero, the unconventional kind but powerful heroine and their fun banter. The hero is practically an actual knight, this is where there is almost another world within the world of Thea Harrison. It was fascinating to see the blend of modern but another world within it that seems so otherworldly and almost medieval historical at the same time. I am not sure what Thea Harrison was trying to do here but I am fascinated to see where this series is actually going. The romance that develops here was so fun. They have great banter, but they have a instant attraction and I liked how they interact with one another. They don't fight off their attraction too long and I appreciated that. Thea Harrison really developed a fun tale here that I wasn't expecting.

 My Review:

Angel's Judgement was such a fun novella. I really found this one interesting. The relationship was more softer angst in the relationship, this felt more like a team effort and loved how easy they got alone together. We also see how well they interact with one another. They have a fun dynamic and the connections to the series was fab. I really loved the mystery though especially with the vampire that we see that really digs deep on your compassion. Seeing a man being turned and it only makes him mentally not fully there any more. You just really feel for him. Nalini Singh really works on the human element so well in this one.

Overall its a very short but fast read that will keep you on the edge and have you swooning in moments! Loving these novellas this author writes.

 My Review:

Angel's Pawn can be read as a novella but is also part of the "Angel's Flight" anthology. In Angel's Pawn this is where we have Ashwini and Janvier. Ashwini is a character that we see in the series and is a friend to Elena. They are called upon to work together to solve a mystery together but also are entangled with each other. There is this flirting attraction between them and we see this attraction develop into more for them. I really had a fun time with their interactions, I was curious what we would get with their story following the second book. I really love how well this author can build a novella into feeling like a real story. I was so caught up in this story and didn't want to put it down. I especially loved the whole Janvier being this sexy southern New Orleans influence type of hero. Those accents are always some of my favorites so I do recommend listening to it in audio in the anthology which you can get at most places.

Overall I found Angel's Pawn to be a fun addition to the Guild Hunter world and glad I was able to pick it up.

Angels' Wolf is a story that features that features Noel and Nimra. Noel is the hero who gets injured in book 2 of the series. Where he was severely tortured and hurt and barely survived. He has many scars inside and out. We see him posing as her lover as there is a mystery to solve and some danger happening in her court. I really loved these characters and how well they work together. I really loved the way in which they get on together and also how Noel really connects with Nimra. Nimra has to be in charge the whole time but you see how much she needs a partner even if she won't admit it to herself. The mystery involving some villains in her court was fascinating and I think out of the all the novellas in this anthology this one just might be my favorite. The hero was beyond delicious and I love how balanced this book seemed to be. The others seemed to be more focused on the heroine, but this one was more equalized which I appreciated getting more depth on the hero.

First Impressions
Daughter of No Worlds is the first book in the "War of Lost Hearts" trilogy. This is also my first Carissa Broadbent and I am seeing why she is so well loved and while this wasn't my favorite fantasy romance....its definitely one that I felt deeply in parts. Its one that deeply impacts you and I am recognizing what is so truly beautiful about this book. This is a story that starts out very slowly though so I actually recommend your first time reading it, read the first book at least in audio. This won't be the easiest for everyone especially if you don't read fantasy too often. The romance especially is super slow burn. We actually don't really see it truly develop until about 60%. While I don't mind a slow burn, I did feel like it dragged a bit too much in the first half of the story.

First Line
Evaluate. Judge. Act.

The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Maxantarius
The Heroine: Tisaanah

Summary
Tisaanah was sold as a slave when she was only a girl. She grew up as a slave and dancer and when she had saved enough to buy her freedom, she was brutally whipped and beaten and on the run for killing the man who owned her in self defense. She was forced to leave those she called family in order to protect them from harm. She finds refuge with the Orders, and joins an apprenticeship with Maxantarius Farlione, a reclusive fire wielder and warrior who has a hate for the Orders but has no choice but to assist her. Through the mentoring, Max and Tisaanah finds common ground and something deeper that grows from some more than just teacher and student.....but true partners against the chaotic world of magic they live in. But there is so much uncertainty in their future but can they overcome the challenges ahead?

What I Loved
Daughter of No Worlds was vibrant and rich in many respects. I really respected what this author implemented within this story. I think if you are a romance reader, this book you will enjoy if you are patient with the love story that slowly develops. There is great strength and mystery behind both of our characters. I love how well connected these two come together. There is also great focus on handling of past trauma and learning to deal with the cards you are dealt and it has its layers within this story that really digs deep into the soul of the story and hits the reader hard at the same time. The world building is fascinating and super complex. I still don't fully understand it all, I would probably need to read this book again to truly understand more of it. The love story that develops in this one was fascinating. I loved their connection, how it slowly connects Max and Tisaanah together, the magical hints and the hues of mystery and darkness that sweeps within the story in such a majestic manner. The third act is one that will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat and captivate your attention. It ends in such a fabulous way, just a teaser for book two but won't kill your heart with a wild cliffhanger. Which I greatly appreciated.

What I Struggled With
The first half is SUPER slow. It really drags, and while I now understand why it was written this way, its very world building heavy and there is no romance in the first half hardly. This is not a quick relationship that builds.....it takes like 300 pages lol That was my biggest struggle. I think if I had read it physically it might have been a DNF with how slowly it builds.

Narration
Truly wonderful. I got thrown off by some of the accents at times, but its one you can easily have at 1.75x without it taking away from the moments of the story.

Overall View
Daughter of No Worlds was a enriching stunningly detailed fantasy that isn't always easy but delivered in a worthwhile way....a story that brightens up to life in vivid details and a heart stopping romance that is the true pinnacle of the tale.

 My Review:

I was really excited to read this one because Sci Fi romance and K. Webster in one sentence....seemed to be perfection for me. However, this book fell flat for me in such a massive way. This was basically mostly erotica. It didn't really have much emotional depth to it and while I found the world building aspects intriguing, that was really the only thing super positive with this story. I struggled with the heroine in the third act as well. She is so selfish about her own interests and not caring about others and makes some horrible decisions and hurts her man and doesn't grovel at all???? I just am not even sure I want to continue with this series moving forward. We shall see.

In Part Three we have the finale for the With This Kiss serial Novella. I really had a blast with this one and is most definitely my favorite of the trilogy. I couldn't put this one down. Although all three segments are page turners, so you won't have a hard time being engaged by these stories. I love how easy her classic books are to read.

In the finale part, our couple have come together, they are working through their past issues and we see them get married with the special license that Grace's mother gives to them. We see them have a honeymoon phase but also seeing the confrontation with the parentals. Which was a hoot in some respects. There was such a happy satisfaction feeling with this part and I loved how "together" our couple is and seeing them in the HEA was so brilliant and I adored the epilogue. It was done a bit differently than how you normally see them done and I found it a bit refreshing. Overall I had a blast with this serial and I am so sad this series is over. But eager to explore more of her backlisted books.

 My Review:

In the second part of "With This Kiss" novella serial series we have moved forward with our heroine, Grace being engaged to a neighbor. He is reliable and a good friend and has wooed her for over a year. But then the man she has loved for years but never returned that love, comes home injured from a cannon blast, being temporarily blind. Seeing Colin back in her life, makes her realize her love that she has for him. And with the assistance of her mother, to keep her father "busy" she takes Colin, drugged, to convince him to marry her.

I actually fell so hard with this novella. I loved the way that this heroine just took control of the situation and is fighting for the man that she loves. This is what I love about a good pining heroine. And the mother taking part in helping her daughter get "ruined" was so hilarious especially with such a protective husband. But I also loved seeing them older and so strong together. I really loved the way that this story ends with the teaser that gets you wanting to pick up the third part and the finale of the trilogy.

 My Review:

With This Kiss is a three part novella that this author delivered that is connected to the "Fairy Tale" series that she has done. This features the children of Griffin and James and their love story. We do have a bit of a love triangle kinda in sorts. Its not a straight out love triangle, you know who the main couple is but there are other interests that come into play with the story.

In the first part, we see Grace and Colin as children and teens. We see their friendship that builds, we see the longing that starts with our heroine, who starts writing letters to Colin as he serves in the military and on the seas fighting off slavers and pirates. Even though he appears to have more romantic interest in her sister, she is determined to show her love to him. But Colin doesn't know what he has until he loses it. Grace has another love interest, and while she doesn't love him, he is a man that is willing to marry her so she doesn't live alone.

Overall I had a blast with this first part into Colin and Grace's story.
