i really wanted to give 4 ⭐ to this for the writing style, and also for its overall horrific gothic atmosphere. i especially liked the slow building of the tension which became quite a suffocating experience on its own.
however, i found the ableism and racism unnecessary considering how the events unfolded, and imo it's a shame that such a captivating and well-written horror story was built on the vilification of a disabled person.
