after reading this ‘novela’ like story for my AP Lit class, it definitely made me reflect on many key themes like family values as well as valuing the gift of life as a whole rather than let external factors like work, school, relationships, etc. get in the way of that. However, would i personally use this book in a future essay (AP test), probably not; though it offers MANY great themes and i personally liked the length, i still felt that it lacked in some sort of depth that would allow me to get into extra detail about the book. i do appreciate its pace compared to past books ive read but its a double edged sword due to it being that short, i felt like i couldn’t absorb all the details as much as i would normally have during my first read through (might have to reread this book to maybe understand more!!). In the end, I would only recommend this book for those wanting to have a short and easy read to add to their reading challenge! you will definitely finish this book in time but will still be contemplating some life decisions after!
