The beautiful, poignant, important story of an amazing woman, who I otherwise never would have heard of.
The prose was very plain, but I didn't mind that at all because it helped me read and comprehend faster. It was really just a narrative, which I appreciated as a break from most deep and cerebral contemporary fiction.
I did get distracted throughout by the fact that it was fiction written from the perspective of a person who actually existed. I didn't dislike that, I think it was a very interesting choice, but it kept me very distracted wondering what details could possibly be true or not.
I learned a lot about Iran and specifically women's struggles in Iran. I was struck by how, even though the context is different, woman across the world often experience the exact same struggles.
Overall, a very good and important read.

Extremely silly, felt like an episode of scooby doo lol. The writing wasn't that great, the pacing was bonkers, and the mystery was kinda disappointing. But as a Midwesterner, I enjoyed the setting. And sometimes you just need a trash mystery. 🤪
