The perfect combination of fluff, smut and plot.

One thing Rebecca thought me is to never underestimate the last 100 pages of a book.
Oh, another thing. Rebecca, why would you bring back fucking Jack but let us suffer with memories and hallucinations of Liam?!? Jack should’ve stayed 6 feet under. Justice for Liam

Wow! It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book this good!
I’ve laughed, I’ve cried and felt nearly every emotion one can feel. The characters are beautifully written and nothing but lovable. The story is catchy and made me not wanting to stop reading.
Well done, Rebecca!

Well that was disappointing. I didn’t want to be too hard on Lauren, bc it’s her first book, but what was that? It’s giving „trying to pack as many tropes into a book as possible“. No real plot, no character development. No nothing.

If I’m being honest, I expected so much more from Sloane‘s and Ethan‘s story. I hope for a complicated love story and character development
But here’s what we got:
We’ve got Sloane. A girl who’s desperately in love with the idea of a guy, who’d rather drinks poison than to open up about his past and feelings for her. A girl who has a breakdown because Ethan cheated on his high school „girlfriend“ but cheats on her own boyfriend with said guy.
Speaking of Ethan. I have no words. Where was the character development? Just coming to the conclusion that his behavior hurts other people is no character development.

Sadly, the characters just had no depth. I’ve read more than 300 pages and I’m not able to name anything interesting about the characters or their story.
Maybe I’m just too old for the book and their story to relate to their problems.

Love the writing style of Coco Mellors, but sometimes a story is just not meant to be for everyone. I started reading „Cleopatra & Frankenstein“ with the intention of reading about their love story.
That’s not what happened
Half way through, I thought I could never recommend this book to anyone. Too much trauma. But now that I’ve finished it, it kinda grew on me. They, Frank and Cleo, grew on me. Reading about their relationship, their ups and downs, mainly their downs, did something to me I can’t pinpoint yet. But coming back to my statement from the beginning. Do I think this story was „meant“ for me? No. Does that mean it’s a bad written story? No. It was fun getting to know Frank and Cleo, but I’m happy to say goodbye to them as well.
