Wasn’t sure about the narration style in the beginning but there is something real around the inconsistency of oral history.

Way too much information on minor players. I can’t remember the names of 3/4 of the people. Not to mention it took too long to get to the point.

Decent read

I shouldn’t need a master’s degree in psychoanalysis to understand half of what the author is writing about.

Written by an American for Americans. Nothing really groundbreaking nor will this book be relevant in 5 years (reference the trump administration as the current administration). Also so many pop culture references, several are pretty obscure. Who references Wreck it Ralph 2?

Honestly, would have worked better as a series of articles.
Hypocritical at points.

Tolkien is a master world builder but not enough women in his stories.
