White male privilege just OOOZES out of this book. Holden has to be probably one of the most irritating characters I’ve ever had to read from. The fact that this is a classic is mind boggling. The self pity is so thick throughout this story you could cut it with a knife. I love brooding characters who hate the world as much as the next girl but HOLY SHIT SHUUUUUT UP HOLDEN. Plot twist: Holden was the phony all along. Sorry not sorry but throughout reading this book I just wanted Holden to get hit by a taxi
