If you already love Sarah Waters, go ahead and read this to get your fix. If you have not, don't let this be your first. This is a labor intensive, dull book. I normally like that about Waters' books, but there was little redeeming. I did not connect with the characters in the way I normally do. The plot was predictable and forced. The ending blah.
