This book truly deserve all the hype it gets. It’s the first R.F Kuang book i’ve read and holy shit I can already tell that she is one of the most talented writers of this generation. She was able to write such a despicable narrator a genuinely awful person, in a way that made you hate June but still keep reading and reading. Like that is such a hard thing to do, usually if the MC is annoying or a bad person I DNF immediately but Juniper is written in such a way that you wanted to keep seeing her life crumble, to make her pay for everything she had done, yet still sympathizing with certain parts of her story. This whole book was so unpredictable and I say that in the best way possible, like I did not expect half of the things that happened and that made the book just so much more amazing. Finally I want to say that as a POC, Juniper is literally the embodiment of so many famous white women and just white women victimizing themselves. The embodiment of white woman tears and I hope some of you learned something from how much people like this hurt marginalized communities.
Yellowface was an incredibly written and powerful story, and honestly this book deserves every ounce of love it gets !!!
