Mr. Impossible by Loretta Chase

rupert's support and love for daphne was so pure. i enjoyed the mummy vibes, though could have done with less plot, lmao. this was humorous and sweet and really fucking racist. if you're going to read it, just keep in mind that it was written in the early aughts and as such, it's disappointing.
Say No to the Duke by Eloisa James

betsy and jeremy. i had such a good time with this. there's a certain ridiculousness that eloisa james creates in her books that i adore. it's funny but also a little bit heart-wrenching.
What I Did for a Duke by Julie Anne Long

this sucked me in and spit me back out a changed person. i adore the characters. it's also the first age gap that has really reckoned with what an almost 20 year difference would be like without making it unappealing. i'm not personally into age gap but i'm sold on this one. he's just so in LOVE with her.
A Kiss at Midnight by Eloisa James

i found this to be a delightful retelling of cinderella, especially the first half. the idea of a prince and a castle of misfits and a witty, clever heroine was so fun. it felt like a truly original take. only reason it's not five stars is because i think the pace lags a bit at the end.
The Reluctant Countess by Eloisa James

whoa. i love books one and two in this series, but this one was...wow. the mmc is just a walking red flag and the fmc turns out to not have a spine and it was disappointing. and lydia's villainy? reeeeeeal 2-dimensional. not much romance if any in this book. it just made me feel sad.
How to Be a Wallflower by Eloisa James

jake and cleo. what the fuck!!! this was so good. such a lovely portrait of friendship in romance and two really unique characters. it felt like neither of them fit the typical archetypes deployed in regency romance, which was a nice change, a breath of fresh air.
The Notorious Lord Knightly by Lorraine Heath

this was a solid read. i think there was a certain level of cheesiness that i wasn't particularly thrilled about but i also pretty much read it in one sitting, so...take that how you will.

mia hopkins, i was not familiar with your game. this was really thoughtfully written. it broke my heart but it was hopeful and cathartic.

daphne and miles! i had such a fantastic time, as always. this whole story had my heart twisting in my chest and the dialogue had me putting my head through a wall (in a good way). but, as always, the conflict is where the story seemed to suffer a bit. it's so close to being five stars. so close. i just kept waiting for miles to reveal the terrible thing he'd done and it never happened? i was a bit confused. besides that, i enjoyed the cast of characters and laughed a ton. highly recommend!
