Survive the Night by Riley Sager

Riley Sager is a great writer, I have enjoyed every single one of the books I’ve read of his.

This one was a toughie for me.

The first third, I hated it. Absolutely hated it.

Second part, I was meh.

Then the third section I ended up loving it.

I don’t want to give anything away, but I want to say this is a slow burn, but definitely worth it. It was unique and good.

I gave it 4 stars because I had to trudge through the beginning and I hated the main character. But great book overall.

Woah. Woah. Woah.

So flipping good that I just can’t.

This one is going to stay with me for awhile.

I don’t know how to rate this book. I can’t give it stars. It’s gruesome. It’s heartbreaking. What’s scary is that it’s not fiction.

What the what?!

So good. So very freaking good. I started this today and simply couldn’t put it down. This book is tantalizing. It sucks you in. It’s amazing.

Woof.

I haven’t read The Silent Patient, so unlike many, I cannot compare books, but this one fell short for me.

I LOVED Mariana, so that is why I give this book 2 stars and not one.

The “twist” wasn’t a twist. It was just, gross. It wasn’t right and it wasn’t an “I didn’t see that coming” in an amazing way.

I do like how Michaelides describes things. Especially the backdrop. You really feel there with the characters.

But there were so many threads that seemed pointless, characters that didn’t need to be there, questions that never really got answered and didn’t seem important.

I am not a fan of this one. I don’t think I’ll pick up another by this author.

Not my normal genre. One of my husband’s favorite books and he suggested it as a palate cleanser to all my horror and thriller books.

I struggled with all the asides and explaining and set up. I felt like it took 40 percent of the book for anything to really happen.

In the end, it was clever and made sense. I enjoyed it. Not sure if I enjoyed it enough to pick up the next one, but I’m also not opposed to reading another one.

Such a cute little cozy!

The characters and their love definitely shine through in this little mystery.

It has humor, amazing descriptions of food, small town vibes, and murder. What more could you want?

I love the diversity and representation in the cast of people and the education factor of learning about marginalized cultures. I am most definitely looking forward to book number two!

This one was middle of the road for me.

In everything.

It tried to be revolutionary and representative, but I kind of feel like the main character felt the moment she got on the show and was let down by the producer’s choice for suitors.

It was a sweet romance, but in many places fell flat. I’d give the author another go. I was happy to see a plus size woman as a heroine, but this could have been done better.
