I liked this book enough to finish it, and was definitely driven on by a need to see all of the secrets and foreshadowing come to a climactic reveal. That being said, my least favorite thing about this book is that so much of it feels forced. I felt like I was forcing myself to take the content at face value and not listen to the part of me that kept saying “that doesn’t make any sense”.

For example,
the “little one” pet name just didn’t feel natural to me. Caelum calls Estrella it from the moment they meet and I personally would find that weird. Estrella’s sudden realizations that something’s not quite right about this man that she loves, coming to her in the last couple of chapters also felt way too rushed. She never questions him, and then within basically a day that trust unravels, and as it does he just so happens to also be losing his composure?

All in all there was a lot I didn’t quite buy in the way the story was written, but the story and the characters are compelling.

A bittersweet book, and an easy read but it makes you think. You can see it all playing out in your head; the heartbreak, the things unsaid, the drugs, the sex appeal. I typically go for cookie cutter romances with a happy ending, and Daisy Jones and the Six isn’t that but it’s captivating and full of feeling. Glad that this book was finally able to pull me out of my reading slump and I see why it comes so highly recommended.

At the start I wasn’t sure if I was really going to like this book, but the more I read the more lovable the characters and their story became to me. It’s the same story different font as a lot of romances, but since I’m into that it didn’t bother me. By the end of the story I was glad that I stuck through the first couple of chapters.

Honestly I just didn’t like this book, and in the case of a book like this it could be me or the book that’s the problem. I don’t shy away from trigger warnings or dark themes and yet this book still rubbed me the wrong way and not just because of the nature of the story. I finished it out of a sheer curiosity to see how the shit show could come to an end, but it felt unnecessarily long and drawn out. Bad moment after bad moment, to which I found myself saying "give us a break” (us being me and the protagonists). I gave it two stars because it wasn’t bad enough to DNF, the end was alright, and there were certain moments I liked reading, but I wouldn’t read it again or recommend it to anyone else.
