Thank you Netgalley and Faber for the ARC.
There are 9 strange stories in this book. Unfortunately I found the first two hard to follow so did not continue after these. The stories I read have a sense of loss and trying to find somewhere to belong. As I found them quite hard to follow unfortunately this book wasn’t for me. However I can definitely see how others have rated it so highly. So you should definitely still give it a read.
There are quite a few potential triggers such as death, eating disorders and grief. So please do look them up.

I wouldn’t usually rate a memoir. However, this was hands down a 5 star and it would be wrong not to rate it. Honest, informative and brave. I genuinely believe everyone should read this book and open their eyes to the barriers autistic people face. It is true that anxiety and depression are so widely discussed and embraced. Yet autism is not. I adored Fern on taskmaster and it makes me so happy that this was the most autistic-friendly job she’s had and she could just be herself. I loved her as herself. Highly highly recommend!

A brilliant debut. A collection of short and sharp poems on mental health, black girlhood, racism, trauma. Even if you may not be able to relate to some of the poems personally they were brutal and eye opening. The poems were often almost quite lyrical. It made the poems easy to read despite the hard and emotional content. Please read the trigger warnings.
