This book just wasn’t for me. It was painted as a retelling but unfortunately I didn’t recognised the two stories I read. I dnfed after that.
They are creepy and have a folklore vibe. The stories painted a very vivid picture and were brilliantly described. I just didn’t particularly enjoy the stories.

These books are so important and I found this particularly one incredibly inspirational.
I am ashamed to say I had never heard of Vanessa Nakate. This book will help promote awareness of her as a historical figure. She sounds like a very strong and passionate woman!
I wish these types of books existed when I was a child.
It also brings me so much joy to know that children won’t just be learning about old white men either.

La Petite Mort is a collection of poems from the POV of a vampire.
There were quite a few references to religion that lost me.
However overall I liked the majority of the poems but found it hard to always connect them to the bigger story.
