The first chapter was extremely compelling, but the rest of the story was bogged down with a tedious stream of consciousness narration that ultimately didn't work for me. There are some interesting discussion points presented in the book, but handling of them within the story and the twist itself ultimately fall flat.

The plot is so boring and moves so slowly, while at the same time, the character relationships just feel rushed, which is impressive, I guess. There is nothing to sink your teeth into except for the promise of a better book that never comes. I should've dnfed.

I feel that this needed a little more work so that the plot was tighter and the writing more compact, but overall, it was a compelling mystery with a great, at times, Gothic atmosphere. The ending was ridiculously stupid though.

A bunch of tropes in a trenchcoat with no substance. So many scenes that would be compelling in an out of context tiktok collage, lack heart and feel disjointed within context. The characters are non-entities, the romances have no foundation or chemistry and the writing is overly confusing at times. All in all, its cardinal sin is that, for a heist book that should be exciting and thrilling, it only manages to be extremely boring.
