a good amount into the book i realised that it’s a 2nd book in the series and the characters were constantly referring to the times they did something similar together a while ago. surprisingly, it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the story.

even though the mystery wasn’t particularly groundbreaking, the plot was entertaining and the characters — loveable. i liked that it was set in the xixth century, the atmosphere was great.

i also liked non-mystery parts, like the main heroine’s daddy issues, a woman’s role and place in the society during that time period, neurodivergent and mixed race representation, and the issues it created in the plot, i think it was handled very well.

i think i’m gonna give the 1st book a go and continue with the rest of the series, because i have a ship that i wanna be endgame. :)

as far as celebrities books go, this one was nothing special, but i admire gisele’s efforts to help save our planet. it was nice to get to know her a little closer.

listen! sometimes you’re brain dead and in the biggest reading slumps of your life, so you just need to read something silly and misogynistic to kill time and not think about anything.
it was obviously disgusting and contains almost every single trigger warning in the world, but at times quite entertaining i can’t deny that.
