This book is great for kids who mostly read graphic novels and want to get into chapter books. The story is fun and fast paced and the illustrations are fantastic.
Heir by Sabaa Tahir

I LOVE Sabaa Tahir's writing. The characters, the world building, the atmosphere, everything just makes my heart swoon. I always know my heart is going to be wrecked, but I'm totally okay with that. I love how this first book expanded on the world we know from AEITA. Ember was so focused on one area I never even thought about the larger picture, so it was so nice to see how vast the continent actually is. I also loved seeing the characters from Ember and how they've grown. It's always fun seeing original characters interact with the new ones and trying to get them to see reason when they never would have in their book. Sirsha and Quill are my absolute favorites and I can't wait to see how they break my heart in the next boook. I only wish there was a guide in the book to recall what certain titles or words meant. But even so, this book was so so good
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna

This was so fun. I need to read all the cozy, low stake fantasies. This won't be everyone's cup of tea but I was so charmed by this. I cant wait to read the author's new novel when it comes out.
The Dagger and the Flame by Catherine Doyle
3.5
I was wondering how this would set itself up as a duology. It was tying itself up into a nice bow and it definitely needed something to push us into book two. So I understand why it ended the way it did, I'm just not happy about it. There was something about this novel that felt a bit off to me. It wasn't bad, it was just fine. I liked the idea and the world, but there was just something about the relationship dynamics between so many characters that was just so mid to me.
