The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead

This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. Colson Whitehead reminds me of old school Toni Morrison, with The Underground Railroad emulating echoes of Morrison's Beloved. This book will haunt me for days to come and after subsequent trips back to the book in the near future. A new idol has formed for me in Whitehead.

Holy crap this was one of the best books I've read since Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl. For a horror fan, the book played off like an evolved form of a slasher movie. I want to go deeper into detail, but I'm stuck in a book hangover at the moment. Hope this picks up steam like Gone Girl, Girl on the Train, Big Little Lies, etc...

A true improvement over the first arc. The story flowed nicely and you actually understood what everyone’s motives were.
