I really liked that this audiobook had multiple narrators, it helped me keep track of the story. There was one narrator that I wasn't the biggest fan of just because the accent sometimes annoyed me, thankfully that didn't really take away my enjoyment of the book. I flew through this one, it was an easy 2x speed and I finished it over a busy weekend. In typical Jeneva Rose fashion, there are some huge, jaw dropping twists. I did happen to figure most of them out but I think they were well hinted at throughout. I still think I liked the first one better, since I really didn't see anything coming in that one and the sequel was a bit more predictable to me. If you're a fan of Jeneva's or a fan of fast twisty thrillers, make sure to check this duology (potential series?....) out!

I LOVED The Measure so much and The Poppy Fields was just as wonderful and profound as well. The author really knows how to write to get your brain and emotions moving. The way she connects the characters together is one of my favorite things. The writing is beautiful and everything flows together so well but it also gets you thinking. I loved the grief storyline and how it focused on how everyone grieves differently and for different things. If you could sleep for a month or two and no longer feel has heart stricken...would you? What if 1 in 4 people who sleep get a side effect where they no longer feel any emotion towards the person they were grieving....would you still do it? The Poppy Fields were such an interesting scientific concept and I enjoyed getting to know more about that process and the whys behind it. I can not wait to read what she writes next!

I absolutely loved Before I Let Go and wasn't as crazy about Soledad's story, but Hendrix.....this was it! This may now be my favorite in the series. Not only because of how empowering Hendrix's story was but Maverick 😍 The two of them together was 👌😘 The struggle of Alzheimer’s was such an emotional part of the story and the social issues throughout were a welcome addition to the romance story. The note at the end from the author was a wonderful addition explaining her reasoning. This was more than a romance book, this was a raw story about love, between friends and parents alike, and a story about the struggle of women and black people. It was empowering and really raised my awareness of things I have been lucky to not know about. The commentary about not wanting children really hit home for me as well, as I have exactly the same sentiments as Hendrix. Overall, this is a powerful story about a black woman helping build up other black women while also finding love along the way. A love that meets you right where you are and doesn't expect anything more or different than what was offered.

I have really enjoyed Andrea Bartz's previous thrillers and was excited to get my hands on her new release. This had a slow start and was overall a slow burn with some unpredictable twists. I enjoyed the POVs and timeline changes, they helped keep me a bit more engaged than I probably would have been otherwise. I didn't really care for most of the characters most of the time, they just felt two dimensional at times. The conversations felt very stilted. There were some definite jaw dropping reveals but overall I couldn't find myself fully invested in the story. Make sure to read trigger warnings prior to reading.

If there is one thing I know about Jaime Lynn Hendricks, it's that her books are going to be fast-paced popcorn thrillers. I could not put this down and read it in one day. I knew this would be the perfect book for me, when it opened with the main character willing to do almost anything to save their dog (albeit murder might be a step too far for me). The story bounces between multiple POVs and it really helped keep the story moving and keep the reader engaged. While I did figure a few of the twists, there were still some shocking reveals! This was suspenseful, full of revenge, and addictive. If you're more of a thriller on the beach reader, this is going to be the perfect summer read!
