The third book in the Harry Potter series was my least favorite one. However, it still a very good read. Voldemort is not seen in this book, so it is a little different than the other ones.

I'm a fan of the boarding school setting with a troubled past, along with the intertwining of classical language/literature with the novel, but some of it felt too predictable. And some characters and plot elements were exaggerated to an extent. I don't read a lot of mysteries, so maybe this is normal for that genre. Very good read though.

Some twists were really twists at all, and perhaps some of the darker/taboo elements could have been played our more, or made more shocking (this is what I enjoy in a psychological thriller) they seemed softened at later points in the novel. Also, the narrator wasn't super easy to get along with. With all this critique, I do have to say that I enjoyed the fast pace, flashbacks, and foreshadowing.

A very informative, but short, version of the Hindu epic. A decent introduction, but would have been better with a bit more detail in some of the battle scenes.
