The strength of this work is the feeling of suspense that builds. The reader wants to know how it turns out. The actual rocket science was pretty cool too, and it's hard to weave the narrative with the science but this collaboration was successful. Well done.
The author put together a pretty good universe. It's a hodgepodge of an elevator pitch.
It's like imagine the lowest member of the caste systems from Aldous Huxley's Brave New World who finds himself in a competition scenario reminiscent of Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games. Where the characters use swordplay and horses like George R.R. Martin's Songs of Ice and Fire.
The combo of all these ingredients sounds like it might be odd. It's actually amazing.
It's a quick easy read. This book hooked me, couldn't stop reading it and can't wait to crush books 2 and 3.
