I wanted to like this one so bad! And I did for the first bit of it, but the main character is absolutely insufferable. I found myself getting genuinely angry at this fictional woman. She has so many issues but refuses to get the therapy that she pushes on her mom. She self sabotages and blames it on the childhood that she never works to get over. She hurts people in the process and doesn’t care because she has to do things to better herself. She is selfish and uses her trauma as an excuse. She treats the love interest poorly and traumatized him in the process. Overall just not a good situation. The relationship is toxic in my opinion, and reminded me wayyyyy too much of a relationship I just got out of. As someone who’s been in the love interests’ shoes, run. This is not a romance, this is a list of red flags.
Soooo much potential, but the execution murdered this story. The pacing was immensely slow and all the sudden rushed the plot forward before slowing down again. The characters are bland and stereotypical, the magic system is never really explained at all. The whole book is about Dianna saving her sister that she loves so much or whatever but their bond is nonexistent and only exists through the reader being told it exists. Eh just poor writing, romance was cheesy and had me rolling my eyes. Only finished it because of the high reviews but save your time- this is just another tiktok romantasy book, you’re not missing anything by not reading this.
Had a fun time but the writing isn’t the best and there’s a major plot hole….
