Remember Forrest Gump's damn box of chocolates? His mom always told him that “ short stories collections were like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.” Or was it life instead of short stories collections? Anyway, this is definitively a fucking box of chocolates, but a fantastic one if I may add. As you move forward this little box you're going to find you're classic favorite flavors eerie, weird, funny, scary and fantastic chocolates. And believe me you're are going to be delightful with everyone of these.

Wayne Fenlon's debut book is an amazing exercise of imagination and dedication. You can notice he dedicated a lot of time to make this 100 words stories work. Does he achieve it? I'm afraid not. But not because he's a bad writer. Au contraire, I think he is damn good writer. The problem is the format.

When I became a more constant reader about 4 years ago, I heard about this 100 words stories format. I immediately wanted to read some of those but was afraid the format where gonna be somehow disappointing because of the restriction 100 words can give to a story. And I wasn't wrong. A lot of stories feel like needed a lot more of a story, they feel constrained within this only 100 words format, but that only made me want to read a Wayne story without that constrain. Cause damn is Wayne good! Of course there's the other side of the coin where there are other stories that are fantastic. I simply loved Trapped that is only a few pages into the book. I think the twist on that story is simply great.

I think it is fair to say that I consider Wayne a friend of mine. He is a great guy, with a great sense of humor, and he's always willing to help other people. And I think it's fair to say this cause I loved how he managed to include us (or our Twitter names at least) into this stories (me appearing in the story named "Hooked"). But I swear to you that I just gave you my unbiased opinion about this book and his work.

Believe me when I say that you're going enjoy most of these Little Scattered Pieces and you will be wanting to read Fenlon's next book as soon as possible.

P.S. Wayne if you ever happen to read this I just want to tell you that I'm just glad that I can call you my friend and I'm extremely honored that you considered my name for one of your stories. But next time make me the big bad SOB guy who slaughters everyone.

A coming of age story with a humanoid bird as a protagonist. I liked it in general but there were some WTF parts that I didn't quite get. I think I have issues with the main character being a bird interacting with real people. Anyway it is a fun read overall. I bought the second book and I will definitively give it a try and see if I can finally get all the praises this series have.

It is a very good short story collection. I hope I can write a review soon.

Real monsters doesn’t live in your closet, they live next door.
And they’re normal regular people, but these are the worst kind of monster.
I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone, and much less to sensitive people, but this is a book everyone should read. You just got to resist till the very end of it.
And I know that a lot of people could say that everything that happens is barely readable. How can one torment oneself of reading all the calamities this fuck up cold hearted bitch called Ruth Chandler puts through to this poor little creature called Meg, an innocent and tormented 14 year old.
And believe me YOU WILL HATE RUTH!
But you can learn a lot from this story, think of the big bad wolf meets Jack Ketchum. All of the classic fairy tales were savage at first, little red gets eaten by the wolf, sleeping beauty gets raped by several men including his own father, Cinderella’s stepsisters severed their limps, and a lot of etceteras. But they were created with a mean, to taught a lesson.
The main character surely pays a high price and learns a valuable and unforgettable lesson.
I read a lot of people are disgusted ‘bout what happens in here and more ‘cause it’s loosely based on true events, but they forget one thing, history is there to prevent us to repeat again the same mistakes all over again, and Ketchum wrote this story so we don’t forget a little girl was murdered and no one around did nothing to save her.
Read it under your own risk but remember the real frightening monsters are real flesh and blood people and come in all different sizes and shapes.
Sweet dreams to you all.

Really it's more of 3 1/2 stars.
I've no idea what to find in here. But it's a very entertaining vampire story with lots of naked women. I just bought it cause I bought the three books in a bundle. Let's see where the story takes me.

This is a short very strange and fucked up story. The story begins with George, an old student of Miss Rahl, being interviewed by some woman who is interested in the terrible events that happened in that school. Miss Rahl is very attractive and is the substituting the regular teacher’s group. And she is decided to teach this teens about life.
I believe this is one of the first published works of Daniel Barnett, and it’s not a bad one, but I believe it could’ve been better. And the ending gave me such strong vibes of one King short story but I can tell you which one cause I’ll be spoiling you.
Personally I struggle at the beginning with the prose, and I couldn’t be able to connect with any of the characters. And even as the King vibes I got of the ending, it is bittersweet bu
But still there was something that kept me going, the curiosity to see what was the purpose of this teacher with these obviously troubled teens. So, I encourage you to give this story a try and don’t mind the stars. And believe me when I say that you really need to know Miss Rahl. She’s the hotter teacher you’ll ever known
