interesting story but the lack of transitions made the plot feel choppy and abrupt throughout the entirety of the book

i love how this volume was written with everyone’s journey finally leading them all to each other. it was just as captivating as the first two! i’ve been throughly entertained with this series so far, now onto the next!

i’m loving this series so far! although, it was a little difficult to differentiate some of the flashbacks from the present timeline in this volume.

what a fun introduction to the series! i loved how adventurous and action packed this story was. all of the characters were multilayered and made the plot more compelling with their varying motives. my favorite thing about this book is the daughter’s narration. it’s so intriguing to see things from her perspective and it kept me thoroughly engaged throughout the book’s entirety. can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series!

unfortunately the writing style wasn’t for me :/ there was too much narration and very little dialogue, it felt clunky and awkward to read. i couldn’t fully immerse myself in the story because the writing was so distracting.

i really appreciated the range of the stories presented in this book. knowing that this is catered toward a younger audience, it was nice to see a balance of stories that were straightforward and stories that were more elaborate. while i enjoyed them all, some of the stories left me a little confused because they felt unfinished; they didn’t have as much depth as the others and/or would end abruptly. The Rougarou was easily my favorite, it felt the most complete and had a wonderful story arc. overall, i valued the informational aspect of this book and will definitely check out the other collections in this series.
