overall, i really enjoyed this story. i feel like it dragged a bit in the beginning and i was waiting for things to progress and speed up a little bit but once it did i was very intrigued. this was the first love triangle in a book that i wasn’t totally vibing with. the first romantic interest felt rushed/forced (although he did grow on me) and the second felt like it came out of nowhere. however, seeing how things turned out in the end i don’t feel as strongly about this as i did while reading. while there were some plot points i felt were rushed over and not as flushed out, i'm hopeful that the second book will expand on some of these and give us more information on certain characters. i absolutely loved the magic in this book and found myself fascinated with learning more about Lore’s powers alongside her. the descriptions of magic were vivid and clear and were easily my favorite parts of the book. i’m interested in seeing how things will continue in the next book!

i really liked this book and the chemistry between the main characters was amazing but i could see the third act breakup happening from miles away. it felt unnecessary and dragged out the ending for me but i enjoyed the story overall.

the amount of information thrown at you from the beginning is A LOT but once i was fully immersed in the story i could not put this book down! it’s captivating and keeps you on your toes. every chapter effortlessly leads to the next and i often lost track of time while i was reading because everything flowed so well. the last few chapters definitely threw me for a loop & i’m super excited to dive into book 2!

this story is special. the characters felt so real and authentic. it was incredibly easy to put yourself in their shoes and feel their emotions right there with them. the relationship and the family dynamic was so clearly illustrated it hurt sometimes! absolutely wonderful book, i love Yasmen and Josiah and their heart-wrenchingly, magnificent, story.
