Do you know the saying “Never Judge a Book by its Cover”? This was that book for me. I loved the cover. Too Bad Inside had a poor plot, stereotypes, and contradictory writing that left you with whiplash. After so many great reviews, I expected to be on the edge of my seat. Instead, I was left with a book that I thought was AI-written.
The characters were just stereotypes. There was not a single likable character. I found the FMC vapid, judgemental, holier than thou, and just contradictory. One minute, she looks down on anyone drinking, then she downing 4 or 5 drinks? What? She bounces all over the place. She describes almost all the females by their weight or body. There's no growth in her character. I'm still not sure how she even survived. It's like the killer just never got around to her by the end.

Serial Killers who kill bad people, is becoming it's own Trope. Yet, There are Authors who can take it and make it all their own. Asia Mackay does that with Hazel and Fox. A Married Couple who just happened to be a “retired” Serial Killers trying to make a “normal” life for their daughter. The writing brilliantly gives us these dark themes while adding humor and heart to the story. They felt real and relatable while being neither of those things. I rarely compare my feeling to that of a Serial Killer. I found myself thinking, “ Same, Girl” to so many of Hazel's thoughts. Probably more than I should. :) JK. I loved the Ending. I can't wait to read more from Mackay.

I was so happy to get a DRC version of this book. My youngest loves to try new Ramen recipes they find on TikTok or YouTube. So I thought this would be a fun thing to do with them. The recipes were easy to follow and make. She absolutely loved the Anime look and thought the kawaii-style illustrations made the whole thing more interesting. She didn't even care that it wasn't a video. :) We had a lot of doing this, and if we can make it, so can you. There are difficulty ratings that help to narrow down what to try first. Everything sounds fantastic, and it turned out great as well. I highly recommend this for ANYONE who loves Ramen, cooking, Kawaii Stuff, or just trying new things. I plan to buy the Hardcover when it comes out.
