Thoughts
Neutral thoughts:
Very cinematic pacing, very fairytale-esk as per usual with her writing. But this suffered from telling and not showing. So while there would be very power moments or speeches or sentences, I didn’t feel the emotions that garnered the character’s reaction(s) & I wasn’t believing the emotions that these characters were supposedly feeling. So this also led to some awkward moments when there would be declarations of emotions or revelations from either the main character or the other one’s we get to meet and just overall awkward dialogue.

So while I have my gripes about this, I still enjoyed the story overall. I am a Juliet Marillier stan & I can't wait to read more from he
