This book perfectly describes the feeling of coming to terms with your sexuality and your first love. The slowest of slow burns in the best way possible

This book is incredibly sad but was a really interesting read. I liked it more than I thought I would.

This book was so fast paced I barely could keep track of what was happening! I was intrigued by the mystery but couldn't super invest into the book.

This book was great, but a difficult read. It really challenged the things I thought I knew about slavery and the fight for emancipation. It's outside my typical genre so I had to take lots of breaks, but I like Whitehead's writing and characterization.

I was surprised by the magical realism in this book. I thought it was a modern  day setting until some magical things came into play. It was a fun read but I was not easily invested in the main character/ had trouble identifying with her flaws and outlook.
