I was hooked from the beginning, but I didnā€™t like how the story played out.

This was very cute! I could tell Abby Jimenez consulted with mental health professionals while writing Just for the Summer, so that was great. Unfortunately, I didnā€™t feel a lot of chemistry between the two main characters. I wanted more angst instead of insta-love. I was very invested in the fmcā€™s relationship struggles with her mom; that part of the plot was done so well!

I wasnā€™t expecting to love this so much! My social worker heart is so full after reading this endearing story about motherhood, adoption, and found family. Mix The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (but make it about motherhood) and The People We Keep together, and Family Family would be the result.

Itā€™s a DNF for me. Maybe Iā€™ll come back and read the physical copy one day, but the audiobook is awful and felt very cringy to me. This is the first Ali Hazelwood book I havenā€™t immediately loved.

I would probably give this 2.5āļø, but Iā€™m not doing .5s in my reviews anymore. I was really engaged in the story, but I thought the ending was dumb.

This book is PERFECT, and I refuse to hear any criticism. If Lorelai Gilmore wrote an Emily Henry book, this would be the result. If you donā€™t like this book, then I donā€™t like you. Thatā€™s all.āœŒšŸ¼

Oh, also - make sure to read this via audiobook!
