There were some VERY cheesy scenes and dialogues surrounding the loss of a critical character and discovery of mating bonds.

Other than the few cheesy dialogues this book had me wanting to continue reading and devastated to learn the next book in the trilogy won’t be released until 2024.

I did scream at the MMC a few times, I will not lie.
Aramis is the MMC who is less so morally grey and more a do-good with wind magic. He has an evil stepmother who exploits his moral superiority and determination to protect his people.
The FMC (Sybil) is an insecure healer/shifter whose parents met an untimely demise and left her to fulfill their dreams for her to become an incredible Unicorn healer.
Lemon is Sybil’s best friend and furry companion, you will come to love this little guy and her need to constantly check on him!
Nero is a fantasy version of Outlander’s Jamie in the way he talks. If you aren’t used to reading the subtitles of Outlander you are in for it!
And then there is Tricella, the evil queen stepmother we all come to hate.

If you’re into magical powers during battles, shifter characters (draken, unicorns, wolves, tigers, etc), kingdoms at war only to discover dark magic has turned them against each other, then this book is a must read. There is very little spice and you will encounter it at about 95% through the book.
Their brief physical contacts throughout the books keep you hooked.

I enjoyed the world building and loved the emotional support animal that kept the FMC company and furthered the plot on multiple occasions. It’s giving every cat lady’s furry best friend on an adventure with her.

Personal note to Fleur; we need Nero to get his own less troublesome version if Clair in the sequels

Not sure what I expected picking this up but I was more than pleasantly surprised.
I am still recommending this short read book to my friends.
If you’re into forced proximity, puck-esque antics forcing could be lovers together, and the smokies for a christmas backdrop this book is for you.

The pup didn’t hurt my feelings either.
