All these books are amazing, and a modern day classic. The films are pretty good, though they do the books no justice. I read these when I was little, and I've always loved them.
One flaw: I hate Peter, h's so cocky "/
Oh well, an amazing series by an inspirational author! :)

The start to this one was kinda slow, but it really picked up towards the end. It was so exciting, starting the fifth one now :)

While reading this book, I thought it was quite slow and pointless. But looking back, I realise I did kinda enjoy it. Half the book is about Abbey's depression over everything and her ordinary day to day life. But the end was amazing and sooo unexpected.
Caspian was more than mysterious: he was boring.
All in all, a good book. Try it and see what you think.

Now this was one amazing book. The blurb does it no justice to be honest, and although I knew it was going to be an unusual, exciting read, I didn't quite expect what I read. The plot was unique and intriguing, with a mix of everything you'd want in a book (well, trilogy): romance, adventure and excitement.

Unlike many of the heroines in modern day YA novels, this lead character, Jenny was confident and determined. She didn't rely on any man and could fight her own problems. The other characters were each unique and their personalities were described very well in both speech and actions. Julian, the 'villain' of the trilogy was heart-touching, more so after reading the third installment. Through the first and second books, you get the image ofg a cold hearted man that wants to use Jenny's friends, and hurt them, until he gets Jenny to give in to him and stay with him for eternity. But throughout the third book, the other side starts to slowly show.

The ending to this was both joyous and heartbreaking. It was fitting to say the least, and finished off the trilogy in a heart wrenching yet complete way. I really did not expect it; even though it should have been obvious to me, it wasn't. There were twists throughout the book, and it never failed to have me wanting more.

The descriptions were amazing, the plot was amazing, the characters were amazing, everything was AMAZING. So go on, you can go buy it now. ;)

Surprisingly I didn't love this book. I thought I would, as the plot seems unusual and it is a male's POV. But to be honest, I found it a bit boring.

Ethan: now, this is one...original, I suppose(?) character. It would have been great if he was gay! And very fitting to his personality. And it would have made a nice plot, to have a gay's POV for once. Gosh, these days all paranormal YA books are about romances. But anyway, back to this book. I'm not critizcizing this character in any way: I actually rather liked him. He was quirky in an odd sense, he was friendly and didn't have any problem with following on with his feelings for Lena. Ah, and now I've mentioned Lena, let's move on to her.

Lena: I found her boring and a tiny bit annoying. I thought that, seeing as the female had the supernatural power for once, she'd be tough, confident and would have no problems standing up for her and Ethan's "love". But instead she was a bit bland, whiny and didn't do much. Or that was just Ethan's way of seeing her actions, but from the way the author describes Ethan's feelings for Lena, I doubt it.

The plot was OK. There were some interesting twists, and the descriptions were very detailed.

The ending was the real shizz of the book. There was finally some excitement and drama! Which is sad, as the ending was over too soon.
But all in all, it's an ok book, and I have no major problem with it. I don't know if I'll buy the sequel, it depends. Try this book, you might like it. But don't expect anything overly original: it's just a twist on all the other books of this genre.

**P.S- This isn't in any way my opinion on Kami Garcia's writing. I love her writing style, this is just my opinion on this particular book. :) **

I loved this book. Yeah, it has it's negative points, but mainly, this book and positive points. It's well written, grips you from page one and has an intriguing plot.
YA books are usually centered around the same thing: vampires or werewolves. Now I have no problem with this, but seriously? Can't we have something a bit different for a change?
I was losing all hope of finding something original until I found this. Admittedly, plenty of novels have the same romance as this one: good guy + bad guy = which to choose?
But, think about it, this book was first published in 1994, and RE-published in 2009. So, that's a lot before Twilight and the like, isn't it? So, did L.J.Smith copy Stephanie Meyer? No, unless she has a time machine, which I highly doubt 'cause someone would have found it by now.

Now, let's get down to the story. Kaitlyn is an outsider with no friends, and is made fun of in her rural area. She has an ability that frightens the narrow-minded residents near by: she has premonitions of the future, in the form of a drawing. But she never knows what they mean until it's too late.
Then, a woman called Joyce comes to her school claiming that Kaitlyn has a place at the Zetes Institute, a place for psychic teens to train their abilities. Five kids from over the states have been chosen. Kaitlyn accepts the offer, and moves to California to start her new life with fellow psychics: Rob, a golden boy than can heal others. Anna, a gentle girl that can influence animals. Lewis, a quirky chracter that uses PK, psychokinesis. And finally, Gabriel, a telepath that's been in jail for murder-twice.
The five realize that there's something dodgy going on behind the scenes of the institute, but after being nearly caught snooping around in the hidden room in the cellar, Gabriel accidentally traps them in a psychic web. There are five of them, creating a balanced shape, and the only way to break the web is to kill one of the members.
Then, when Kaitlyn and Gabriel are drawn to Mr.Zetes's house, they are both trapped. Gabriel is offered a chance to live: if he kills Kaitlyn. But after refusing, he is hooked up to the mutated crystal fulll of power that Mr.Zetes has in his possession, and is tortured by it for over an hour. Then, the others arrive and free them. This is when Rob realizes his love for Kaitlyn, and they end up together.
Now, they're on the run to find the strange man that was after Kaitlyn when they first arrived, the one that has been contacting them in their dreams. They travel through the states in search of a rocky beach, and a white house. But thanks to the powers of the crystal, Gabriel has become a psychic vampire: he needs to feed of another's life energy to survive. Kaitlyn offers herself as his pool of energy, hereby creating a bond between the two.
Eventually, they find the house, but due to Gabriel's past he is not welcome. The house is the hiding place of an ancient race of psychics, and they have the crystal that can destroy Mr.Zetes for good.
Gabriel rebels, and heads back to the institute. Kaitlyn knows she can change him, so she pretends to wasnt to serve Mr.Zetes too, and is welcomed back tot he institute, although there is suspicion surrounding her.
Mr. Zetes discovers she is a spy and traps her in an isolation tank, a tank where all her senses are cut off. Gabriel fights to talk to her telepathically, to keep her sane. Thsi is when they both realize they love eachother. The others come to the rescue, they fight off Mr.Zetes and kill him, and Gabriel and Kaitlyn have the happy ending they deserve.

^^^The plot was full of twists and exciting moments, even if the romance was a bit easy to guess. I was team Gabriel from the start: Rob was just too good. Fairplay L.J.Smith, you know how to write a good book. ;)

This book had a bit of a slow start, and I was considering on giving up on it. I only started reading it because so many of my friends have reccommended it to me, and I felt like I was missing out on something HUGE. Turns out I was, I'm so glad I carried on reading this. As soon as you get in to the story (around when she arrives at the House of Night) this books becomes a nightmare to put down.

I LOVE Stevie Rae, Damien and the Twins, Zoey becomes such a more likeable character around them. I liked the way the book let you settle into the story before it started getting to the thicker plot: taking down Aphrodite, the leader of the Dark Daughters.

It's a well written book, and it was a pleasure to read. I'm getting the second book pretty damn soon, so I can see what happens next. Thanks guys for telling me to read this fantastic book! :)
