i haaated the male character though, he was such an incel it pmo but i understood why she related and theres complexity to that which goes unaddressed which is a shame. we arent meant to like him but he has no redeeming features so i felt dread when i saw his name on the page.

quite a slow start that took me a while to get into. not sure why i thought this was YA, it gets pretty gruesome at times which is cool. this was awesome and i imagine if you're more into fantasy than me then i think you'd love it.

im so fucking mad. this fills the void of harry potter i guess. baffled. chomsky and rand are genocidal bffs ? SHE CHOSE TO BE NAMED AFTER A ROMANOV ???? i disliked this a lot but its objectively pretty okay for ya fantasy. probably will read the next one because i dont like myself that much, clearly.

why does everyone hate this book. lit fic is all about upper middle class people being terrible to each other !!!!! everyone is awful thats the point.
tldr; wasted potential, only read if ur into that. also u need to check the content warnings there is truly something for everyone here. mostly for the sake of edge.
really awesome premise. theres so much here that would be awesome for movie visuals - special meat packaging and government psa stuff. overall the setting is underutilized. this guy has been doing this for decades and still thinks its all barbaric ? he's meant to be a villain but then also the reader insert and it doesnt work at all. he should be unfazed by all of this by now ? the violent language used here doesnt play with his decades of doing this.
the ending was also a bit disappointing and id been promised it was a banger. i like that his wife was down to use a "head" to have a child - really good commentary on surrogacy and class - but then he just kills her? CMON
