Od książki z wattpada nie oczekiwałam zbyt wiele, ale nie sądziłam że będzie aż tak szkodliwa. Podejmuje trudne tematy jak przemoc domowa, albo zaburzenia odżywiania nie edukując czytelników jak sobie poradzić z daną sytuacją, za to tłumaczy jakie wiadomości pisać do dilera narko*yków aby je dostać. Jeśli chodzi o styl to książka zawiera ogromną ilość wulgaryzmów, często pojawiają się w niej błędy składniowe i pewnego rodzaju myśli filozoficzne, które posiada każda osoba powyżej dziesiątego roku życia. Jak na to że jest to książka dla nastolatków to zawiera bardzo dużo podtekstów sek*ualnych, a także sceny er*tyczne, które są brutalne. 

Postacie są jednowymiarowe, a wszystkie ich problemy są wywołane przez rodziców którzy są po prostu źli, jak antybohaterowie z bajek dla dzieci. Jedyne co doceniam w tej powieści to posłowie, w którym autorka raczyła zawrzeć, że to co przedstawia w książce nie powinno być normą i należy zgłosić się po pomoc jeżeli doświadczamy przemocy.

It's one of the most thought-provoking classics I have ever read. However, it was so hard to read - took me a lot longer than usually due to the main topic that is - pedophilia. Hambert is a character that disgusts you, as well as makes you wonder how an intellectual can be so crazy and maniacal, yet still maintaining his intelligent remarks.

Nabokov has a way of making the scene dynamic and make me anxious in seconds. When Charlotte finds out about Hambert's diary, even though I've been waiting all this time for her to finally realize what is really happening to her daughter, I still felt anxious - and I believe it was very intentional of Nabokov, because she dies a few moments later.

Dolly had so many chances to run away from Hambert, (even Hambert points it out, not understanding why) yet she stayed. It is the case for many situations where a predator traps the victim, they are more afraid of the unknown that comes after leaving the well known abuse.

I love the way Nabokov writes descriptions - they change along with Hambert's emotions. They weree so vivid that sometimes made me wanted to puke when the description was about Dolly's appearance. 

Definitely a book that you can't get through easily, but a must read that made me want to read more of Nabokov's books.

W tej książce pojawia się wiele pseudo-filozoficznych myśli, które są oczywistościami. Dialogi trochę sztucznie brzmią, a niektóre problemy postaci są mocno rozdmuchane, mogłyby zostać rozwiązane o wiele szybciej. Mimo wszystko była to przyjemna lektura, bo książkę ratują postacie dziewczynek, które rozgrzewają serce i zwrot akcji,  którego się nie spodziewałam (Peony).

It was written beautifully but it was just nothing more. When I read a complicated novel I want it to have a deeper meaning, and it didn’t have it. Bonus points cause the letteres were so heartwarming and because it's sapphic.
